So far this season 1,687 homes have destroyed & more than 21,000 buildings saved. Since 1 Jan, 771 homes lost. This figure is likely to increase. It will take time for teams to work through these areas due to limited access on isolated roads and villages. #nswrfs #nswfires

Today we celebrate the life of firefighter Andrew O’Dwyer of the Horsley Park Rural Fire Brigade. Andrew was tragically killed along with fellow member Geoff Keaton on December 19 while fighting the Green Wattle Fire near Buxton. #NSWRFS

Well fires in the North still, fires in the Hunter, Upper Hunter, Blue Mountains, Wollondilly, Oberon, Palerang and Shoalhaven. Plus dozens more around the State. Very strong winds again Monday with warmer temps mid-week. Crazy amount of fires. #nswFires

Very windy and dry conditions will see elevated fire dangers across parts of NSW today. 3 areas under a Total Fire Ban including the Greater Hunter, New England and Far North Coast. Know what you and your family will do if fire threatens and report all unattended fires to 000.

Smoke currently being experienced across Sydney, Hunter & Illawarra has drifted south from large fires burning in northern NSW, not from hazard reduction burns. The smoke will likely persist for several days & may not clear until some stage over the weekend. #NSWRFS #NSWFIRES

At 9:00 there are 45 fires burning across NSW, 18 of these are yet to be contained. Yesterday 61 new fires were reported of that 31 were the result of lightning. More than 260 firefighters are in the field working to contain these fires. #NSWRFS @OEHmedia @FRNSW @VisitNSWForests
