In April I joined seven other candidates on the ADR Group Civil and Commercial mediation course. As the only arboriculturist amongst a group of practising solicitors I was nervous but warmly welcomed. I'm very happy to say I passed! #mediation #arboriculture #expertwitness

I had the pleasure of working at Burnham Beeches this week. Seeing wonderful ancient pollards is a very grounding experience. Sadly I didn't realise I was standing on a wood ant nest as I took this photo. An uncomfortable experience. #tree #ancienttree #environmental #ecology

Every year my Stewartia pseudocamelia brightens up the cloudy autumnal days. A native of Japan but introduced into western cultivation in 1874. This species has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. #trees #arboretum #autumn #nature

It's not all trees, trees, trees! Spotted this beauty from my office window. Most Red Admirals migrate to North Africa for winter but some can be found overwintering in log piles. So keep a little habitat stack in the garden if you have space. #butterfly #habitat #trees #nature

I spotted this wonderful beefsteak fungi on a fallen oak at the National Trust's SSSI Selbourne Common. Not a common sight and although they sound tasty (and are edible), they're much better to look at! #trees #fungi
