BREAKING: Arizona Supreme Court rules to uphold the state’s 1864 near total abortion ban, which will wipe out nearly all access in the state (currently up to 15 weeks). Voters will likely have the chance to override this ban in November via ballot initiative.
Arizona could determine control of the House, Senate and White House this fall. More on how abortion is shaping those races —> politico.com/news/2024/03/2…
@AliceOllstein That sound you hear is a train running over Kari Lake. The abortion issue is the biggest miscalculation by the GOP in decades and it will be painful. They were once considered third rail issues bc you could campaign on them without instituting incredibly unpopular change
@AliceOllstein I'm disappointed in you, Arizona.
Wildly inappropriate to attach modern republicans to an 1864 bill that courts predictably ruled valid, because it LITERALLY is constitutional—the thing the court is tasked with determining. No one wrote this law today. Voters can reject it in a few months. Super bad faith but par.
@AliceOllstein I guess Arizona is the latest state that will have to learn the hard way why women fought so hard to legalize abortion back in the 70s.
@AliceOllstein @samstein 1864 ladies!! Republicans taking women WAY back!
