Artist alley discussion happening again and i think its worth noting that especially in the US tables are massively expensive before even factoring in travel/hotel/production... as someone who did artist alley before it got to this price point even then you would have to do popular things in order to even try to break even (let alone profit lol). If you hate seeing so much genshin/uma/etc then if you see an artist selling something less popular, please buy it! It's the only way we know that people might actually want it! As nice as it would be to see fan merch of myself, in the view of the public i am but a tiny grain of rice in a field full of it. The average person going to a con probably knows like a few big vtubers who are in the public eye and whoever their oshi is re: offkai. Any merch being made of anyone who isn't in that first category is going to be a risky labor of love bc the artist likes them. I did a lot of can badges and prints of obscure shit I was really into at the time - because I had a button maker it wasn't that much of a loss to me, but in a world where people expect acrylic everything and extremely high budget produced goods that's... a lot harder to get away with nowadays @_@ TLDR: pls be nice to vending artists, shit's expensive. It's okay to be sad that you don't have fan merch, but be kind about how you vocalize that. Also if someone has made Eury merch for yabai market or w/e pls lmk so i can at least help buy their stock lmfao I worry about losing folks money 😭
