10. Get them to include themselves in the Acknowledgements. Have a little phrase: "and thanks to my wonderful translator (insert name here)" ready. And if you can, get your publisher to put their name on the front cover. Don't erase their contribution. #TenThingsAboutTranslation

5. They have to be able to spot cultural references; song lyrics; obscure pieces of slang, and decide if those things can be made into something that resonates with their readership. #TenThingsAboutTranslation
