I was already in bed when my cat started screaming from the hallway. Not his normal meow either, full emergency siren. I got up expecting something to be wrong and found him sitting beside the kitchen gate, staring at me like I was an idiot. I’d forgotten to close it. I shut the gate and he immediately walked away like his job was done. Then I remembered why he cared so much. Our dog is basically a furry criminal with a food addiction. He’s stolen an entire roast, opened packages we’d literally bought that same day, and once ate half a cake and then walked around with frosting all over his nose like he thought nobody would notice. He also had to go to the emergency vet after getting into chocolate, and somehow none of this has taught him anything. So apparently the cat wasn’t waking us up because he wanted attention. He was making sure his idiot brother didn’t break into the kitchen and accidentally kill himself. Same cat won’t even go onto the patio unless the dog comes with him. At this point I’m pretty sure we don’t own a cat. We have a tiny security guard supervising a very stupid dog.
