@InterMiamiCF_UK Yeah just read the blog and agree! Especially with no relegation there’s no need to be so reactionary. I do think both players are top 3 in their positions in MLS but it really limits your squad building ability as you feel pressure to sacrifice player progression to win now

Matuidi & Higuian are both top players, who played most of the games in a Serie A winning team, who have both played in a World Cup final, and should dominate MLS... but I’m slightly concerned by what us signing them both means for our strategy moving forwards (thread)

@ValsaynViking Yeah I think a big marquee signing was always on the cards that’s fair and both Matuidi and Higuain are class, but neither is a huge name in a commercial sense at all to be worth the massive outlay and deviation from the strategy for me. Long term over short term always for me

@FightinHerons Yeah I agree things are awful right now, but those at the top are paid to look at the bigger picture. We haven’t deserved around half those defeats, feels like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The strategy is sound, the specific moves are the questionable aspect

But someone needs to ask what the long term vision is upstairs, bc it looks like 7 games in and it’s out the window

But when we have so much money to spend in a depressed global market, I just feel like it could’ve done something with more imagination and more in keeping with a long term strategy. It’s a real position of privilege to be moaning about signing two genuinely top class players

Managed to stay up for this here in the UK but regretting it. Got much better after Nashville’s goal was (wrongly) disallowed, but Nashville creating a lot of issues for us that we can’t seem to solve #InterMiamiCF

Extremely proud of our team and this player lead move. Black Lives Matter. Police brutality, militia groups shooting protesters and federal agents disappearing protesters of the street all need calling out more than we need soccer #BlackLivesMatter

We faded hard as we tired and the press faded, but we took advantage of the periods we dominated. Huge to get the first win in the Classico, huge to get the three points and huge to see the real identity the style we had for the first 60 mins. Gracias mi amigos #InterMiamiCF

Pizarro showing up BIG tonight. Starting to see what Alonso loves so much. When players with technique like that put in work as well you can really build a culture and style around it. Not many ‘luxury’ players like that are capable of being so pivitol to the press

intermiamianalytics.com/post/miami-whe… My take on what Miami is lacking, and the area's we need to address in our game so we can win the next Sunshine Classico. Any comments please let me know! (I know I need to learn Tableau for my Data Vis, so not that) #intermiami #IMCFUK #LaFamiliaIMCF

We’re not mentioned here but we should be. If he’s available again we have to try to get Cavani, our best possible DP option no doubt #InterMiamiCF #IMCFUK

@ValsaynViking I think Trapp, certainly the bigger ‘name’ than Ulloa, plus Ulloa was the player that was more dynamic (to be generous) which will be Matuidi’s role. Alonso’s a pretty conservative coach so I expect him to keep the more conservative player!

Matuidi is a quality player, huuuge upgrade on Trapp & Ulloa. Allows us to continue the double pivot and play Rodolfo in a free role. On a TAM deal is unreal, but will be facinating to hear more about the deal and how long it for, and if he becomes a DP next year #intermiamicf

@IMGators Yep, v clear we need an 8, 9 & allll new full backs. Salary cap is just the US system I guess. Only NFL & NBA have huge TV deals that mean those caps can be huuuge. MLS cap won’t rise till the TV deal does. Fingers crossed for 2022!

Yes 5 defeats in a row is unacceptable, but we need some perspective. First, it’s not ‘5 in a row’, there was a pandemic in the middle which disrupts an expansion team more than any. Secondly, we all know we deserved results against DC, Orlando & Philly (1/2) @jrojasa75
