The end of Roe is just the beginning. They are coming for contraception. They are coming for marriage equality. They are coming for basic LGBTQ rights. The court's ultra-conservative bloc glorified "history and tradition" because they want to drag us back to the dark ages.
@AndrewLSeidel @HelenMa36555484 Contraception is codified already in law, in Obamacare.
@AndrewLSeidel And don't forget our right to privacy, that will go because it will interfere with states keeping track of pregnant women and where they are traveling to and for what. So soon no more right to privacy for anyone in red states.
@AndrewLSeidel I think we blew it all through naive reliance on the courts to find and maintain implicit rights. We always needed to (still need to) fight to explicitly codify any and all rights that aren’t unambiguously spelled out.
@AndrewLSeidel @AndrewLSeidel For the sake of those of us who are not from the USA, can you please explain how a SCOTUS can change its own ruling, without new evidence presented? Is that allowed in the US system? Seems arbitrary in the extreme from outside. Thanks.
@AndrewLSeidel The 'dark ages ' were those centuries when the Abrahamic religions ruled all of the 'old world' countries. No one could cough or fart without begging forgiveness from the imaginary God. And if God were questioned it could mean a cruel death to the questioner. That day is near!
@AndrewLSeidel @americansunited When the Constitution was written, only white male landowners could vote.
@AndrewLSeidel @RStasch Not too far off…slaves were treated like family…
@AndrewLSeidel I seem to remember your founding fathers successfully fomented armed rebellion against taxation without representation Coercion without representation and equality and protection under law strikes me as a whole step change further on from that
@AndrewLSeidel @MightyJoe0042 The pill is only 40 some years old, people forget, Rochas also about 50 years ago
