Since the January 8/9 massacre in Iran, the Iranian diaspora has mobilized en masse. On February 14 alone, police reported more than 1.4 million people were on the streets around the world. This is how they acted: dignified, respectful, and thoughtful.

A reminder that during the January 2026 uprisings in Iran protesters in Abadan tore open bags of rice and cast them into the air. This was a deliberate, symbolic act aimed at rejecting the Islamic regime's attempt to reduce their rebellion to mere “economic grievances”. The protests were not driven purely by inflation, food costs, or a "hunger problem”. Iranian people, struggling to be free for 47 years, used the rice toss as a powerful visual metaphor. Their message was explicit: “Don’t feed us, FREE us.” By throwing away a staple food - when food prices were soaring - they demonstrated that their fight was not just about the price of bread but about reclaiming their fundamental freedom and human dignity. And for this tens of thousands were massacred. Now compare that to the riots in France 🇫🇷 where it seems Palestine will not be free until every student has a looted Louis Vuitton bag.

The Palestinian flag is not just a flag. It has become a symbol of “resistance” of the Muslim world against the West. For 47 years, the Palestinian cause has been on the agenda of the ayatollahs, who have exploited it as a unifying force across the Arab and Muslim worlds—not only against Israel, but also against the West. “Palestine is the cause of all Muslims.” The naïve world has fallen for this narrative. Now, under the same flag and driven by the same ideology, France is being set ablaze. Just as Khomeini set Iran on fire in the name of Islam and Palestine. To all European ministers and statesmen, including Macron, who was among the first to recognise Palestine and thought he would score political points: you will never win the favour of those who despise your civilisation and would set France ablaze if given the power. If they succeed in imposing their will, every European country will be exposed to a conflict whose consequences are already reaching our own societies.

For nearly half a century, Iranian Americans have helped build and strengthen this country through their contributions to business, medicine, science, and education. Today, I call on my fellow Iranians in America, and on every American who values freedom, peace, stability, and economic security, to make your voices heard at the ballot box this November, and to consider the freedom of Iran as an important issue when casting your vote. Because a free Iran is better for everyone. It is better for the people of Iran, who deserve to live with dignity, speak freely, and choose their own leaders without fear. It is better for the world. For more than four decades, the Islamic Republic has armed militias, financed terrorism, and destabilized its neighbors. Its actions have claimed countless innocent lives and spread violence, chaos, and insecurity across the Middle East, Europe, and beyond. And it is better for the American people. Roghayeh Salehi was shot and killed in Baghestan, Karaj. She was 44 years old. And after killing her, authorities pressured her family to keep quiet. They were told not to speak publicly about what had happened. Not to involve the media. Not to hold a ceremony for her. Her body was eventually returned to her family and Roghayeh was buried at Behesht Sakineh cemetery in Karaj under those restrictions. There is almost nothing else publicly preserved about her. What work she did. What made her laugh. Who waited for her at home. What she wanted from the rest of her life. We know far more about the efforts to silence the story of her death than we do about the 44 years she lived before it. They wanted Roghayeh buried quietly.
