After over a month, here is some well-deserved news!
This is the biggest call we have made since we started. It changes what Arxia can carry and who it can actually reach. We would rather give you the full reasoning than a headline, so this is a longer read than usual.
Here it is.
What Arxia will carry
Arxia is being built as an offline settlement layer. The assets people already hold and already trust can move across a radio link with no internet in sight. Stablecoins. Bitcoin. Money that has purchasing power the day it arrives.
The last stretch of work went into arriving at this rather than defending the earlier plan. A sovereign chain is the more flattering story to tell. It was also the wrong shape for the person we are building for.
Who this is actually for
As a Layer 1, exactly one asset could ever move on Arxia: our own token. Every user would have had to acquire it first.
Picture who that user is. No bank. No connection. No reason to trust an institution that asks for one. Telling that person to go obtain a token before they can receive money from their family is the precise barrier Arxia exists to remove.
We would have shipped the barrier inside the solution.
The scope got bigger, not smaller
The question stops being whether people will adopt our asset. It becomes how much existing value needs to move where there is no connection. Remittance corridors. Humanitarian distribution. Disaster zones where the towers are down and the money still has to arrive.
The engineering reason
A new Layer 1 has to convince people that untested consensus is safe enough to hold their money, and that argument gets harder every time the value sitting on it grows. Anchoring to an established chain borrows security that has already been paid for. It ships sooner, and it is more honest about what we have proven and what we have not.
What does not change
Offline-first in the hard sense. Long range LoRa radio as the default path, not a gateway you have to walk to. Hardware that costs tens of dollars, not hundreds. A transaction that fits inside a single radio packet at the ranges that matter in the field.
If the internet never came back
Everything above still works. This is the part people get wrong about Arxia, so here is the mechanism.
Every account has its own chain, and every transaction carries a sequence number. Spend the same number twice and every node that sees both blocks rejects the second. Two conflicting spends reach the mesh, the nodes in range vote with the stake they can reach, one block survives, the other is gone. A payment can never be received twice, even when two groups of nodes that were cut off from each other meet again and merge what they saw.
None of that touches the internet. It runs over radio between the devices in range of each other. A village with ten nodes and no connection to anything settles its own transactions, and keeps doing so for as long as the batteries last.
The honest part is about size, not about safety. A small payment between neighbours confirms the moment the nodes around it see it. A large one waits until more of the network has seen it, the way a cheque clears on the spot for a coffee and takes longer for a house. How much of the network you can reach sets how much you can move at once. Internet is one way to reach more of it. It is never required for the transaction to be real.
The build
The flash storage layer survives power loss by design. A fault injection suite cuts power at every write boundary, and the ledger comes back byte for byte identical. A node in a village loses power, it comes back, and nothing is gone. That property is the line between a demo and something you can hand to a stranger.
The north star
Real boards, real distance, a transaction settling with no internet in the loop, filmed and published.
To be exact about status: the settlement layer is a direction we have committed to, not code that exists today. We will show it when it runs.
Ask anything in here. We will answer!

What's next.
Docs and investor materials in progress. Positioning refined for the next phase. And the field test remains the north star.
We post when there's something real. There's more coming.
Stay tuned. 📡

A full website and narrative rebuild is underway.
Sharpening around one truth: every crypto network claims decentralization, but they all depend on an internet connection they don't control.
Arxia removes that dependency.
Claro and Tigo both degraded across five departments after the colombia quake. power cuts, damaged towers, saturated networks, all at once. Arxia was built for exactly this: transactions and messages over lora mesh when the towers are dead.

on july 28 at 16:27 jst a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck kumamoto prefecture. shindo 7 in uki city and hikawa town. at least 36 dead, roughly 260,000 people under evacuation orders.
within hours, 168 mobile base stations were offline across the prefecture.
japan had prepared for this. on april 1 the five major carriers launched japan roaming: when your carrier's towers goes dead, your phone automatically attaches to a competitor's surviving 4g network. voice, sms, 300 kbps. no registration. this was its first real test.
it worked where at least one carrier was still standing.
around yatsushiro and hitoyoshi, all four were down at once. nothing left to roam onto.
the reason is in the ministry's situation report. ground displacement of up to 3.5 meters along a 27 km section of the futagawa fault sheared the buried fiber conduit and collapsed the poles carrying microwave backhaul. a tower can be powered, intact, undamaged, and still carry zero traffic if its transmission link is cut.
four carriers. separate towers. separate spectrum. separate companies. one shared physical layer underneath.
that is the failure mode worth understanding. redundancy across operators is not redundancy when every operator's last mile terminates in the same trench.
arxia is designed on the assumption that the trench is cut. lora, ble, sms, satellite. consensus that does not require a backhaul link to exist.
not a claim about kumamoto. a claim about what the design has to survive.
PoC v0.5.0. 692 tests passing!
The Arxia team conducted offline transactions between two devices, and it worked! Its Ed25519 signatures over LoRa radio are working.
Double-spend prevention without the internet works. Ledger reconciliation when networks reconnect works. The transaction size is 193 bytes and significantly under the LoRa radio limit of 256 bytes.
This is no longer a promise that exists in our whitepaper. The Arxia team has demonstrated that the tech works, compiles, and passes on x86_64 and compiles for ESP32 (Xtensa). The code is public in our GitHub repository with the tests, and the results are verifiable by anyone.
Building continues. Follow @ArxiaLayerOne to stay updated.
In every post-apocalyptic story, the same thing happens. Society breaks down, and infrastructure fails. The official currency becomes worthless. And within days, something else emerges.
Bottle caps, cigarettes, ration cards and hours of labor. This can be anything that two people can agree on has value and is useful to survive together.
Nobody planned or designed it; it just emerged because the need is fundamental. Crypto was supposed to be different. A designed, cryptographically secure medium of exchange that is censorship-resistant, borderless and trustless.
But when the infrastructure collapses, Bitcoin joins the bottle caps. Equally useless and inaccessible. The question nobody asked when building it is, “What happens when the network itself is the thing that fails?”
Follow @ArxiaLayerOne to stay updated on what we are working on.
@DoingFedTime Running your own node is the right instinct. but every one of those nodes, tor and i2p included, still needs the internet to be switched on. decentralizing who validates means nothing if you've centralized whether anyone can connect at all.
Anon doesn't have to mean unaccountable.
