There is a lot going on right now on the @Space_Station, but fortunately we are all safe and witnessed a spectacular southern aurora show yesterday thanks to a recent solar event.

If you own a MacDon draper you need to know the name Phil Allemang. I met him through social media. He’s a mechanic and traveling repair man from Nebraska specializing in MacDons. He was in my neighborhood picking up a parts machine, so he swung out to the field. Slept in his truck overnight and met me at the field at 7am. He showed me every nut and bolt on my Draper and how to adjust it. We needed to do a few updates and my local New holland dealer, Bowling Green Tractor not only had them in stock, but the salesman drove into town on a Sunday at 9am to set them out for us. Both Phil and Bowling Green Tractor are top notch!

Fungicide, a stress mitigator, and a foliar with some micros is worth 19 bushels/acre this year. The only difference between these two fields was that R3 pass.

We thought the clicking noise was a final drive. Replaced it. Still noise. Turns out it’s the transmission. Chunks of gear fell out when we popped the drain plug. Happy Monday on a Tuesday

Any tips for combining rank, high yielding soybeans with a Case 2188? Other than the obvious “drive slower”? Would dessicating them help once they reach maturity? Had an unexpected 1/2” come through this afternoon and flatten them. I’m not complaining, they’re going to be great beans

What a unit. Dale plants all his corn with this setup. I got the chance to chat with him this morning. He applies his corn chemical at 10 gal/acre with the saddle tanks. “My bride of 46 years helps me fill up every 40 acres, I shoot for 80-100 acres a day” “Don’t gotta worry about the co-op showing up to spray before a storm. My sprayer is three feet behind the planter.”

What is this? Splotchy patches throughout entire field. Treated seed, April beans. Been a garden spot all year. SDS? Some sort of stem rot?

We lost Uncle Don a few days ago. He was a great man and had a large impact on my life. Larger than life, even if his height didn’t reflect it. The world is an emptier place without him. Over the course of his life he owned a construction business, a pineapple farm in Belize, and an ATV trail park. He wasn’t afraid to chew your ass if you messed up, but he’d also give a stranger the shirt off his back. Firm but fair. A successful businessman. A family man. The world needs more Uncle Don’s

“Dealership said they’d charge me 10k. Screw that. Are you free Monday?” - Uncle Don 71 years old and could work 90% of the guys my age under the table. Had two open heart surgeries this past Spring. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

Tremendous beans, if we can keep the disease out. First time we’ve got an August rain in 3 years, not sure what to expect when the combines roll. 2188 and 1680 are gonna be grunting
