Uber has been ordered to pay $40 million to the family of a 23-year-old woman who was struck and killed after her rideshare driver ordered her out of his car on the side of a California freeway. An arbitrator found the driver "needlessly placed" Emily Normandin-Parker and her friend in danger, saying he showed "far more worry for his new car than he did for his passengers." 🇩🇪🇺🇸 Germany's Cold War nuclear job just got handed to a brand new American jet. Lockheed handed over the first F-35 in Fort Worth with Defence Minister Boris Pistorius there, who called it the start of a new era for the German air force and the most advanced combat aircraft flying. Berlin ordered 35 of them in 2022, the same year Russia rolled into Ukraine, to replace Tornados that have been in service since the Cold War. Those Tornados are the jets cleared to carry the U.S. nuclear weapons parked in Germany, and the F-35 is the only Western aircraft that can inherit the job.
