This letter was sent to a 12 year-old boy by his GP. His mother is not happy. I don't blame her. She'll be discussing it with me on today's Richie Allen Show. I'm live at 4. Speak then.
@BBGRichie People are entitled to healthcare. People are entitled to confidentiality. Most kids will choose to tell their parents because it helps them deal with stuff. If they choose not to, then that is the right they have and they likely have a reason. Deal with it.
@BBGRichie @lumunico73 What is going on... our poor children!
@BBGRichie Why? It’s massively important that young people can talk to healthcare providers independently, sometimes their parents can make ridiculous decisions on their behalf otherwise - like declining vaccination for example.
@BBGRichie Why? You don't think a young person has the right to speak to their doctor privately if they want to? This is extremely important for safeguarding young people.
@BBGRichie Sue. I am pretty sure they are breaking the law.
@BBGRichie Its fine. Some children need protection from their parents. Some have the competence to make that judgement. Put down the pearls.
@BBGRichie This must be illegal. Surely.. I would be interested to know who is allowing things like this to proceed.
@BBGRichie I can’t believe they community noted this. Something not right with this at all
@BBGRichie After 4 years of vax injuries. Why would anyone entrust their child to go it alone to a doctor on health decisions . Not a good precedent. Community notes need to not be a 1 way biased thinking process - how could parents not be concerned - absolute.
