What if I told you there was a type of public school that leads students to superior academic outcomes, is wildly popular with Black and Latino parents, and is growing while the rest of the public school system is shrinking? Democrats should embrace charter schools.
@BBrownIndy Even though it shouldn't be a partisan issue, it has morphed that way. But there are conservatives making it difficult for charters as well - whether outright, or in backroom deals. EVERYONE should embrace charter schools. Parents ARE watching.
@BBrownIndy Line your own pockets, pal. Taxes should stay for the public good until regulations are in place and enforceable on private or charter schools. They can and do discriminate, aren't required to uphold the same standards as public schools, and cost much more in the end for parents.
@BBrownIndy People should embrace good schools. There are good and bad trad public schools. There are good and bad charter schools.
@BBrownIndy What if I told you that charter schools often discriminate against students- some that are Black and Latino. They do not have to adhere to special education needs and have told families they can’t/won’t accommodate. Charter schools are garbage. Fund public education.
@BBrownIndy Whites can’t send their children to public schools any longer
@BBrownIndy If public charter schools are superior to regular public school, why aren't all public schools required to become charter schools?
@BBrownIndy Until charter schools have the same standards, no. The discipline rates at the local charters are astronomically high. Disabled students aren't treated fairly. I've lost track of how many have closed and abandoned students in the middle of the school year. No thank you.
