It is hard to believe that one little donkey could become the centre of a story that has reached so many people. **HeeHaw was just one year old.** He had been bottle-raised by Hannah Israel, was accustomed to people and had taken part in petting zoos and visits within the community. To his family, he wasn't simply livestock — he was a much-loved part of their lives. Then, in the early hours of **August 30**, everything changed. Police officers were searching for a missing 12-year-old girl when they entered the pasture where HeeHaw lived. What happened next remains fiercely disputed. Officer Trenton Garner says HeeHaw charged towards officers and a bloodhound team. According to his account, an attempt was made to deter the donkey using the electrical arc of a Taser before Garner fired a single shot. Hannah and her legal team dispute that HeeHaw was aggressive. They say this was a small, extremely social donkey who naturally approached people — and believe he may simply have been galloping towards the unexpected visitors in his field. That disagreement is one reason the **body-camera footage has become so important**. Weeks later, the footage still has not been released publicly. Hannah's attorney says repeated attempts to obtain it have been unsuccessful while an outside investigation remains underway. The case has now gone much further. On September 11, Hannah filed a **federal civil-rights lawsuit against Garner**, alleging unlawful entry and search, unreasonable seizure and destruction of property, and deprivation of property without due process. Those are allegations that will now have to be tested through the legal process. Garner remains on administrative leave while the Georgia Department of Agriculture's Law Enforcement Division investigates the shooting. His attorney maintains that officers believed they and the bloodhound were in danger. Meanwhile, Hannah's attorney has said the lawsuit could also help bring the evidence — particularly the bodycam footage — into the open. But amid the anger, grief and unanswered questions, something else has happened. A fundraiser originally established with a **$30,000 goal has now passed $160,000, with around 2,200 donations.** Hannah says remaining donations will be used for the care of the farm's animals and towards creating a **HeeHaw Foundation**, rather than for her family's personal needs. So perhaps that will ultimately become part of HeeHaw's legacy. A tiny donkey who lived for barely a year has inspired thousands of strangers to care about what happened to him, raised questions about how law enforcement encounters animals on private property, and sparked a legal battle that may eventually provide the answers his family has been demanding. Why $HeeHaw matters, a TLDR 🫏 Cops entered a Georgia farm at 1am looking for a missing kid, got startled by a 1-year-old bottle-raised mini donkey named HeeHaw doing donkey things (running up and braying), tased him, then smoked the little guy in his own pasture… Kid was found safe 200 yards away. Family’s completely heartbroken of course while the officer is on paid vacation. State ag dept “investigating.” Naturally the timeline launched a Solana meme coin called $HEEHAW within hours, and it grew to be one of the most traded tokens on the $SOL blockchain. What is VERY important to mention is that the main account for the token @Justice4HeeHaw is becoming the primary account for the whole #JusticeForHeeHaw movement, and there are more normies following it than people on CT. The amount of retail that this is attracting is crazy to see… HeeHaw died IRL, now his legacy is being carried forth on-chain through the justice for HeeHaw token that has donated and raised over $60,000 (and counting) to Elsberry Riding & Farm, the farm that owned HeeHaw. Nothing about this case seems right. They've really messed up and we're holding them accountable. They thought they could get away with yet again another animal killing and have no consequences after.
