While it's important to evolve as a coach, completely disregarding established methods is crazy talk! Those who due are not using 'evidence' against old-school but instead showing findings in areas they want to promote. The old bait and switch technique.
Have you heard of these new forms of parenting and coaching? While they claim to be evidence-based, the specific evidence supporting their approach is often limited: extending small-isolated findings far beyond what researchers intend. Be careful those who preach more than coach

If you’re ever wondering why your teams are losing, evaluate the effort and intensity first. This clip has instruction, but the intensity of the reps, especially defensively, is surely lacking. Intensity before anything. Hopefully this was a coaches clinic and not a practice

Timing occurs when the passer and the receiver know what is about to happen and the defense doesn’t or is too late and unable to take it away. It is not always the best reads, it is the synchronization of passer-receiver. Constant uncertainty leads to missed sync teams

One of the best things we started doing this year was playing 1 on 1 no dribble from the charge circle. Forced guys to evolve some creativity, use fakes/shakes, pivots, and learn to play angles. Showed up in our finishing by the end too.

@BacktoCoaching @transformbball I love the new games based approach to coaching. Real defence and messy environments with more touches. But specific training still has a place. Kids are more likely to experiment with a skill if that skill is improved and they have confidence in it. There is a place for both imo

I wrote several papers on transactional vs transformational leadership while getting my MBA & the point is it’s not impossible to do that study but nobody has done it because of the time/cost it would take & there are many flaws in existing studies.

@candid_coach @transformbball @90percent_hoops All the most successful people (not just athletes) I know were coached & parented hard. It’s anecdotal so I’m not drawing definitive conclusions off that, but sorry that makes me skeptical of a selective study with 18 “elite” athletes.
