Local farmers markets are great places to source seedlings and later in season produce and other small farm items. Talking to people though, a very small element of people use this source. Most are still locked into the conventional grocery store system.

Left over peas and cilantro from Farmers Market. Not going to sell, it’s mature dumped it in the chicken pen for conversion to eggs. Hens are pretty pumped.

Half of a 144 sf home built greenhouse. This is the second planting, we already have 180 flats of material out in the raised beds converted to temporary greenhouse. There is about 1800 vegetable starts in here. Anybody can do this!!

If you are new to prepping and homesteading, chickens have to be one of your first additions. We get 8 eggs a day off 10 chickens with the 12 year old hen getting a pass. They convert all your kitchen scraps to protein. If you have a rooster they are great alarm birds.

Heirloom tomatoes really have lost their mojo as far as I am concerned. I went with all BeefMaster and Beefsteak but they have not grown that well. But it is Central Oregon. Should have grown some hybrids too.
