It was a great pleasure to demonstrate the Balpha Mast system to interested yacht owners and visitors in Hellevoetsluis. The Balpha Mast system really turns out to be the ideal solution for sailing on inland waters that were formerly not accessible for yachts with masts.

After spending 2017 on the Dutch inland waterways, Balpha Global will cross the English Channel for demonstrations at various British yacht clubs.

The Hellevoetsluis sail demonstration event will take place from the 18th - 20th of April. The BalphaLiveLab program of tests and trials is now underway. This includes improvements to rigging and sail handling while using the foldable mast system.

With Balpha Mast now fitted to BalphaLiveLab we have begun a program of trials to test and optimise the system. A great opportunity where the boat deck is by the workshop door and product refinement can be achieved.

For absolute quiet and serenity, Lake Saimaa in Finland should be at the top of your travel list. The deep green forests and shimmering lakes are nature in its most pristine state and offer great hiking and watersports.

Situated in Austria, Lake Hallstatt is popular for scuba diving, scenic cruises and fishing. The surrounding landscape is also a much-loved hiking, cycling and paragliding destination. Celtic tribes settled here more than 4000 years ago, making it a UNESCO World Heritage site.

We have started with the Balpha Live Lab at our Shetland home port. The laboratory will be fitted with another Balpha Mast system for trials, testing and optimizing the system.

Interesting about Lake Geneva is that there isn’t much wind in the area of the lake. The most frequent wind, “Bise” is cold and dry and typically lasts 3,6 or 9 days. The most famous regatta is the Bol d’Or and is one of Europe’s most prestigious freshwater regattas.

The Norfolk Broads are a network of rivers and lakes in England. There are five bridges under which only small cruisers and smaller boats can pass. A yacht fitted with a Balpha Mast system can navigate in this beautiful countryside with picturesque towns and villages.

Lake Bala in Wales was formed when a long, deep glacial valley became blocked by Ice Age debris. At four miles long and well over 40m deep, it’s the largest lake in Wales, with its own Loch-Ness-style mythical monster.

The Lakes of Killarney, Ireland, are part of Killarney National Park – a protected area that is home to astonishing native woodlands, rare fauna and flora and historic sites that date back all the way to the dawning of the Bronze Age.
