The Lord Chancellor @AlexChalkChelt has a duty to publicly condemn a Prime Minister who shows week after week that he is happy to undermine the rule of law for cheap political points. Defending people against the state is good, actually. Just ask your mates facing prosecution.

Every single Conservative MP who cheered Sunak’s risible outburst is an embarrassment to our country. They are cheering against liberty, against democracy and against the foundations of our civil society. They mimic the mindset of every despot and every tin pot dictator.
If you honestly believe that individuals facing prosecution by the state should not have access to due process, you have no business being in politics. If you don’t believe that, but are happy to pretend you do to score partisan points, the same applies.
@BarristerSecret @DickShearman Nothing But The Truth is one of the best books I've read.
@BarristerSecret You used too many words in the first paragraph, let me fix it for you: “Every single Conservative MP is an embarrassment to our country” 👍
@BarristerSecret But we already know justice and equity before the law are not Conservative values
@BarristerSecret Well said. The Tories are scraping the barrel of populism. No concept of a properly functioning parliamentary democracy.
@BarristerSecret The problem is that many conservatives probably don't want democracy. How many believe that it is their right to govern etc.. at the moment. I've had a local MP who barely believes in the rule of law or that people deserve representation etc... the situation is just a mess
@BarristerSecret What irony that they always play the patriotism card, when their actions and gestures frequently border on the treacherous.
