Why do trauma triggers always feel like a deep longing for a place that doesn’t exist?

This is especially relevant for neurodivergent people, who may produce their best work if allowed greater autonomy in how they structure their work day. You’re not lazy, and it’s okay to work differently 💖

If you’re ever feeling ashamed about struggling to work consistently across 8 hours or longer each day, remember that the average worker only actually works for less than 3 hours of the eight. Productivity doesn’t directly translate to hours. inc.com/melanie-curtin…

It’s so mad how when I was growing up I genuinely believed I had to have my whole life set by the end of my 20s just because I rarely saw woman older than that with main character energy on screen and I can’t overstate how much of a relief it is that that’s been changing

worked through processing so much trauma this past year and it’s so mad to think there was a time just over a year ago when I really believed things could never get better. 🥲Anxieties that used to destroy me just aren’t hitting the same

Setting up photoshoot quality lighting my besties date is probably the cutest thing we’ve never done before. Not that she needed portraiture quality lighting for it , She knocked it out the park. 🖤

There needs to be a word for the specific kind of anguish caused by reasonably strong intellect paired with incredibly poor mental health and the way this often impairs you in working towards goals that on paper should be pretty simple

It's almost 11pm and I have a document to write for tomorrow, and I have no doubts of my ability to get it done but I just can't understand why I've done this to myself yet again >_<

No matter how many times it happens it still perplexes and infuriates me how I have never in my life had an issue with actually writing an assignment, just with getting myself to open my laptop, or open the document, or write the first word...

@zander1811 Omg so exciting, hope it goes well! I know interviews can really do a number on your self-esteem but whatever the outcome remember you are more than capable and deserving of this! 💖

I can’t believe the audacity of lil child me feeling sad when cats would sit on my lap but didn’t really like being picked up or held… Me, a kid who only tolerated hugs from certain people at very specific times and can’t cope with feeling restricted in any way 👀🤣

These days I’m pretty much always either studying, exercising or cooking, and I haven’t felt so balanced and aligned probably ever. Pursuing personal goals and living simply suits me well.

Quietly and unapologetically pursuing my own happiness without worrying what pleases others has been my life’s longest quest, but I’m getting there. the path to the other side is looking good, if a little lonely sometimes 🌞

Sorry that you feel avoiding a moment of your discomfort is worth a lifetime of someone else’s?

If you can’t empathise with the idea that rebuilding an authentic self from scratch might be somewhat difficult, I don’t really know what to say. Sorry that you experienced some momentary social discomfort from witnessing an autistic person trying to accept themself?

Hearing as an autistic person how we should stop ‘making our whole identity about autism.’ 🤔 Sorry we’re not all so good at compartmentalising the existential crisis of having been told our existence is unacceptable and masking our entire identity from a young age, I guess? 🤷
