@BetteMidler I am a retired 33 year teacher and university professor. I loved what I did! I knew I’d not get rich! But I was happy and I did it as a SINGLE mom! So I don’t wanna hear sob stories! Selling plasma? My son DONATES his! Don’t like the job? Find another one!
@BetteMidler They are the architects and builders of our future. We need more investment in education.
@BetteMidler My husband taught for 10 yrs in FL around the time of the Real estate Bubble. It was awful. Topped out around $37,000+. Even though the State/county says what the pay scale could be, he never made close to that. It was awful then & awful now.
@BetteMidler If you vote for massive government spending leading to 40 year inflation and crippling energy policies leading to massive energy price increases, this is what you get. It’s not just teachers either! But hey democracy was saved 🙄
@BetteMidler SAME. I'm 58 years old, have two degrees, been teaching high school for 23 years, and live paycheck to paycheck. I can barely afford a one bedroom apartment, and I've been putting off dental work for well over a year. 😧
@BetteMidler I am a paraprofessional in a special education classroom and sadly we get paid what amounts to $13/hr. I made $16,000 last year. All educational staff are underpaid and that causes us to be shorthanded. It is not a living wage.
@BetteMidler @johncusack Yet billions were spent on political campaigns by the filthy rich who keep getting their taxes cut. Imagine what could happen if that money went into education
@BetteMidler Just goes to show you as with every government supported job, we overeducate, have kushy benefits, have paid continuing ed so teachers pile up unnecessary degrees and most of them can't manage money, how much education do you need to teach 3rd grade? We have to ask ourselves why.
@BetteMidler People need to learn what an Average is. You could have one teacher making $100,000 a year and another teacher that only makes 30,000 and the average would be $65,000 a year. That doesn’t mean every teacher makes $65,000.
@BetteMidler If you haven’t worked in a public school full time as a teacher, please make no negative comments. You have no idea of the hours worked by teachers to educate children. Just go sub for a week. I dare you.
