I assume these aren’t real Marines, but rather Trump crisis actors.
Update: I was wrong. They are Marines. Read @USMC's explanation for their presence, and see if it's convincing. And a question: Does a color guard usually pose for photos with random civilians?
@BillKristol @USMC There is no such thing as a non-political even at MAL. Why on earth would US Marines be providing a color guard for anyone not in government.
@BillKristol @USMC Random civilians thrusting their thighs into the color guard?
@BillKristol @USMC It was an "America First Gala" which sounds awfully partisan to me @USMC
They are not supposed to smile 1) to provide a positive and professional image and 2) not invoke a threat of harm. It's considered unprofessional for a marine guard to lower their level of alertness, even in other countries, people are allowed to take pictures near them but never right next to them. In Europe and in Latin America, a civilian can get their ass handed over to them by the marine guard for 1. Obstructing the path of march or relieve of duty. 2. Invading their personal space or guarding area. 3. Making a mockery of the guard, their presence or uniform. All of those can land a person, free of gender or race, a real ass whooping after which l an arrest can be made followed by fines.
@BillKristol @USMC The “explanation” also admits that the non-profit event was “open to the public.” Buying a ticket gets you in. Can’t help but wonder how many other public events occurred at Mar-a-Lago when that stage or that big bathroom were full of reading material aka classified documents.
@BillKristol @USMC Someone needs to be disciplined for this. Not appropriate.
@BillKristol @USMC We are in serious trouble.
