@DrCeci2011 True! Sometimes our PSTs can get too caught up in the HOW of teaching and struggle to look at the outcomes from that teaching. #clinicaledfellows

What a great conversation! Thanks for joining us! #clinicaledfellows
@DRPGSTEM I love this! Paying close attention to the learning outcomes and not just how we are going to teach. #clinicaledfellows
Q9-In what ways can curriculum making bridge the theory practice gap? Remember to label your response A9 #clinicaledfellows
Stated another way, how can helping our PSTs gear curriculum towards their student needs help to bring together theory and practice? #clinicaledfellows
@MeredithSwallow True! So often we tend to see higher education as the place where we learn theory and the schools where we do our practice. They are not mutually exclusive! #clinicaledfellows
@WDsLitCrew With action research teachers have a powerful way to model for their own students the desire to be lifelong learners! #clinicaledfellows
@WDsLitCrew @DRPGSTEM Absolutely! #clinicaledfellows
Q7-What does bringing theory and practice mean to you? Remember to label your response A7 #clinicaledfellows
@DrCeci2011 I think it becomes easy to get tunnel vision of "practice" only when you are emersed in it day in and day out. I think professional development activities such as action research may help this! #clinicaledfellows
@NancyFDana Love the way you said "learn with and from one another" #clinicaledfellows
@DRPGSTEM Absolutely! This can be a difficult process and needs to be modeled and practiced throughout the semester. #clinicaledfellows
Q8-In what ways can action research bridge the theory practice gap? Remember to label your response A8 #clinicaledfellows
@aghooser Sometimes we forget that theory and practice go both ways! We must bring practice into our teaching of theory and bring theory into our teaching practices. #clinicaledfellows
@DrCeci2011 Great point! I always try to discuss with my PSTs the different types of curriculum as well - exposing them to examples from a variety of schools and districts so they can see how DIFFERENT they are. #clinicaledfellows
Q6-What’s one way you can incorporate curriculum making in your own practice with pre-service teachers? Remember to label your response A6 #clinicaledfellows
@aghooser Great point. I think many times the "making" from scratch leads to finding a pre-made lesson online. We have to focus our own instruction on how they can take those found lessons and alter them to meet the needs of THEIR students. #clinicaledfellows
@WDsLitCrew There is definitely some contention in the field when it comes to making vs. development. One of the reasons we wanted to ask this question tonight - see how other scholars view these terms. #clinicaledfellows
@waychunas @WDsLitCrew There is definitely some contention in the field when it comes to making vs. development. One of the reasons we wanted to ask this question tonight - see how other scholars view these terms. #clinicaledfellows
@aghooser I think so too. One is more of an overall curriculum designed for the majority where the other is more prescriptive to individual students and needs. #clinicaledfellows
@NancyFDana Welcome! Glad you could join us!
