Morning glow #flickr flic.kr/p/2sFPG4L A Great Egret (Ardea alba) captured mid-landing over reflective water, wings arched and fully extended to show the translucent primary and secondary feathers. Warm backlighting from the low morning sun creates a glowing rim on the white wings and gives them a slightly pink tone. Taken at the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, Texas and processed locally with Lightroom Classic.

Sunday breakfast #flickr flic.kr/p/2sFENxm A great blue heron (Ardea herodias) caught mid-strike, successfully tossing a small fish into the air to reposition it before swallowing. The bird's beak is wide open, perfectly showcasing the moment of the catch against a clean, soft-blue Lake Texoma water. The morning light highlights the textures of its neck feathers, the intense yellow of its eye, and the details of the glistening fish.

A mother's care #flickr flic.kr/p/2sFEetB This female Yellow Garden Spider (Argiope aurantia) is busy preparing her egg sac for the North Texas winter. She built the multi-layer silk nursery to protect her young from the coming freezing weather. They will hatch soon but remain inside their protective cocoon until spring. It will keep them alive all winter. While they will remain safe and warm, their devoted mother will perish when the first freeze rolls in from the north. The circle of garden spider life.
