This too is Burgundy. W/in St Bris, & w/ the same Kimmeridgian soils as neighbouring Chablis, is the pretty Irancy, which is Pinot Noir but can include up to 10% of the indigenous Caesar. Nice bit of age on this bottle. Tasting note: just imagine a red Chablis! #Burgundy

Blend of Corinto Nero from the volcanic Aeolian Islands, between Sicily and Calabria. Velvety blue fruit, meaty, spicy, with a finish on gold and iron ore. Can you taste an absence of pollution in wine, or is that just my imagination?

From the birthplace of wine, #armenia Made from ungrafted Areni Noir at an altitude of 1400-1600m, near the Biblical Mount Ararat. Thick-skinned Areni Noir is well suited to this extreme continental climate w/ large diurnal temperature variations. Aged in 3/4 buried clay amphorae

The Auverge, pre-phylloxera, used to be France's third most productive wine region, and is now undoing a revival. Altitude and volcanic slopes lend this Gamay a lighter, crunchier, and more mineral profile, and I'm very happy about the £11.50 that I paid for it!

Easily the best village Chablis I've tasted. Made from vines planted in the Malantes vineyard in 1946. V mineral, but also warm butter croissant. Would give any premier cru a good run for its money!

Over the years I've been working through a case of 2019 Valine (a vineyard above Ampuis) & it's now in a v good place. Lifted and savoury, w/ intense notes like violet, smoked bacon & five spices. I needed a Syrah kick, and it more than delivered.

Why do people fork out on posh Burgundy when there are so many clones at a snip of the price? This is one of them, made with their native meticulousness by a Japanese couple, not in Japan, but #CentralOtago I ❤️ their Pinot Noir too.
