Today, the 7 y.o. decided he wanted to “math talk” every single problem on his homework. I’m exhausted, but my heart is full. 🥰

Day 7 of quarantine and the littles are currently entertaining themselves by asking each other to solve math problems. My heart is full. 💕💕

@TracyZager @Desmos I really like the illustrative math tasks, especially for forms of quadratics.

@misscalcul8 I found an activity online but I don’t remember the name of it. I use it often for this. I project a 100s chart and every time they finish an answer, I check it and they can initial the chart. At the end, I use a random number generator to pick one or two names to give a prize.

@mexusmx I haven’t heard of overtime, but I worked in 2 districts in 2 diff states and both approach it the same. Trainings outside contract hours are paid at a lower, flat rate for all teachers. Coverages, tutoring (arranged by school), selling your prep are all paid at your hourly.

BREAKING: Leaked documents from @NCTM reveal efforts to subvert families’ dislike of #math and nurture students’ positive math identities. Radical agenda for enabling students to critique the world. Indoctrination into belief in the power of their own efforts. #education

Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE WODB?? I must have done this one a dozen times, but kids still surprise me with new ideas that I’ve never heard of before! #iluvmath

@Johnsonmath I loved using these cards with my Precalc students last year. They expressed that they learned so much from the activity. Thank you for sharing it!!

@zimmerdiamonds I have math mistake Monday, test prep Tuesday (we have state mandated tests), writing Wednesday, think about it Thursday, and fluency Friday. I call them warmups because your brain is a muscle and we always warm up our muscles before a workout (math class 😜).
