Alright, self. Give me 2,000 words and I'll give you a piece of pie and an hour of Civilization. #amwriting

The good thing about a first draft is that if you run into a place where a character does something cool but out of character, you can go and retrofit the rest of the book. #amwriting

@WriterBLAlley What do you use instead? I like being able to pull it up on any device and not having to worry about saving as I go.

@WriterBLAlley Ha. I actually got up to about 90 before and then changed the margins and the spacing and font size because I was worried that the document was getting too big to navigate. I wish google docs would let me change page numbers so I could start a new one.

This is a rather arbitrary milestone, but my first draft just hit the 100 page mark (size 10 font, single spaced). At the beginning that would have felt huge, but a day at a time and here it is. #amwriting #proud

One thing I think makes a book great is that if you read it at different points in your life you react differently to different parts. I'm rereading @robinhobb 's Assassins Apprentice for (I think) the 5th time. As a parent of a kid, the way Fitz is treated early is heartbreaking

“Oh good, my new socks are here!” I exclaim as somewhere in an alternate timeline, 22 year old me weeps inexplicably. #microfiction

@KateElliottSFF I’ve made a mental note to read up on Mali after I finish the last book. Thanks for engaging tonight.

@KateElliottSFF Can I ask a question? Are you a history buff or did you have to do years of research for that series?

Sometimes accidents are good. Example: I happened to decide to read @KateElliottSFF 's Spiritwalker triology right after reading 2 books and listened to a bunch of podcasts on Roman history and it took my appreciation for her world building to another level completely. #amreading

One thing I need to improve on as a writer is ending scenes. Like I have an idea of what I want to happen and it happens and then I just throw in some dialogue that’s only a little better than “what’s next on the outline, guys?” #amwriting

You know, this sounds horribly stupid in retrospect, but there was a time, maybe 18 months or 2 years ago when I was in a reading rut and was worried I was running out of stuff to read. Now my list is growing faster than I can ever hope to keep up with. #amreading

#NaNoWriMo is over. Hit my 50K, took a break and now back to it. December is #PerNoFinMo (Personal Novel Finishing Month). Put 45K as the goal in my tracking spreadsheet (I thrive on stats).

@NaNoWriMo This is something that means a lot to me. I had tried several years in the past and never came close to getting it together. For the first time as adult I'm confident that I can complete a full, coherent story into novel form. It will take a lot more work, but I can do it.
