It would be more efficient to give the child tax credit to everyone regardless of income. There’s no basis for means testing. The wealth inequality is so extreme that it wouldn’t alter conditions for anyone except those who need it most. So why waste $ on added bureaucracy?
People need a direct influx of cash on hand. Period. It really doesn’t matter what they use it for b/c all of it would go back into the economy. And this is truest of those who have the least. Who cares how ppl choose to spend it ultimately or if they save it? It’s not lost $
@BreeNewsome @DianeFarringt11 Means testing is immoral and inefficient, I’m a big advocate of universality over means-testing. I do media at #ThePeoplesBasics like this article thepeoplesbasics.com/means-testing-…
@BreeNewsome Just raise taxes on those who would otherwise be considered as having too much income. That's what taxes are for ‐ subtraction. vocal.media/theSwamp/why-w…
@BreeNewsome @fentybandaids Excessive money printing = inflation, which hurts the poorest the most. The poorest shouldn't suffer unnecessary inflation b/c we don't feel like putting a cap on the distribution.
@BreeNewsome @Dallas4Bernie The purpose of means testing is to deny benefits to the working poor who cannot afford the time, money, or lawyers to jump through all the hoops.
@BreeNewsome One step further. Give it to everyone regardless if they have a kid or now. #UBI
