I contacted Twitter Support and detailed the nature and purpose of this account. Let's hope they respond at all.

Turns out automated retweeting IS allowed for accounts that benefit communities, according to the Twitter TOS.

I might post some analysis of the data I collected while retweeting. A 30GB database of brony tweets might give some interesting facts.
