My statement following yesterday's Golden Gate Bridge demonstrations. The @SFDAOffice is committed to ensuring that SF is safe for everyone who lives in & enters our city. While we must protect avenues for free speech, the exercise of free speech cannot compromise public safety.
@BrookeJenkinsSF @SFDAOffice How was public safety compromised? Protestors only blocked one side of the bridge, and there was only a small backup of vehicles that were able to safely turn around. CHP made some dubious decisions that put safety at risk, but that’s on them.
@BrookeJenkinsSF @SFDAOffice you're a nazi genocide supporter, i hope someone does a recall to remove you from office
@BrookeJenkinsSF @SFDAOffice Please put them in jail for a very long time. They caused so many people to miss work
@BrookeJenkinsSF @SFDAOffice a PR statement after several hours long traffic hold up is not going to cut it - setting a zero tolerance tone for these kinds of shenanigans and actually following through will
@BrookeJenkinsSF @SFDAOffice What we learned from 9/11 is there is no guarantee these people did not have bombs or weapons. Never assume they are just protesting.
I certainly hope once the investigation has been done they are appropriately charged. The people on that bridge were held hostage for hours in a situation that I certainly would have found terrifying. Somebody would’ve had to send an ambulance for me because I would’ve been in a full panic attack. This has to be a society of laws and consequences for those who don’t follow them.
@BrookeJenkinsSF @SFDAOffice The charge needs to be harsh enough so nobody tries the same thing again, otherwise it is still a show in vain.
@BrookeJenkinsSF @SFDAOffice False imprisonment is a felony. You can most definitely hold them in prison, you have many thousands of victims. Please do your job and don't release these terrorists. Economic terrorism = terrorism. Many have spent years in prison for less economic damage to our society.
