I used to think a business plan had to be this long, polished document. After doing a lot of them, it’s really just: What’s the problem What are you doing about it Who cares How you make money Why you might win Everything else is just detail layered on top.

@mahoney_andy So true - I’m guilty of perfect being the enemy of good. But spending time just getting ideas on a page (handwriting preferred!) things start clicking

early on - I spent way too much time on the visible stuff — logo, name, website. It felt like progress. But I hadn’t really answered: who it was for what problem I was solving how it would actually make money If I were starting again, I’d flip that completely.

@kzitouni1 Congrats! Using my experience (subtext: lots of mistakes!) to help people who are stuck thinking about a business idea to get motivated. very easy these days to see all the “success” out there and get in your head about not being able to do it when it can be simplified

@thedankoe true … even choosing to drive a different route - on a commute, to the gym, to a prospect meeting - can be a whole new world

@SahilBloom True! First marathon, sub 4 hours (goal at the time). 15 years later, more training, 5.5 hours. Sometimes the body (and mind) does what it does!

@ItsKieranDrew Yes. Did 8 hours of yard work last weekend. Was hard to say "I don't need to [code agents, reply to emails, prep for networking]". But actually moving bricks, sod, planting living things? Priceless
