@dog_rates @Diall68 @xBayBearx I can’t help but be struck by the fact that this dog shows more humanity toward another dog than we often show toward each other. Sad, inspiring and a reminder to be kinder to one another.

Worth the read - a good reminder on the differences between the roles of monuments and museums. Quite helpful given recent discussions about whether or not to remove/relocate monuments to Sir John A. Macdonald in Victoria and other cities. 👍@matthewasears macleans.ca/opinion/monume…

Am I the only person who wishes time travel was actually a thing? I'd love to see and experience Ottawa at various points in history. x.com/BytownMuseum/s…

#CowAppreciationDay: Did you know that one of the earliest #OttCity by-laws was passed to "prohibit #cows from running at large on city streets." The by-law would impound the wandering bovinae & impose a hefty fine of $0.50 per head on their owner! 🐮👮‍♂️😂 #TuesdayThoughts

It's too hot to think about winter - so let's turn to summertime activities. We LOVE camping even though we don't rough it as much as these campers at @WatertonLakesNP, Alberta, in 1961. Credit: @LibraryArchives /@thenfb fonds/e011177503

Been looking at cottages lately, and found myself dreaming of being able to relax in this space. Oh the knitting I could do if only I owned this place! LOL!! Photo: Jasper Park Lodge in 1937, Credit: @LibraryArchives / PA #Knitting #CottageLife #CanadianWinterCo #Jasper

@LibraryArchives @thenfb LAC, I'm just throwing this out there... Is it possible that by tweeting about winter being over, that you have caused Ottawa to go back into the throes of winter this weekend? 🤔😉 #neversayitoutloud #ottweather #calendarsaysonethingweathersaysanother

@GigiSantasSocks What a beautiful multi-coloured stocking! Nice work.

Cool! Aerial photo of @GreaterSudbury, Ontario in 1928, the year Falconbridge Nickel Mines was created. #DYK Sudbury's Frood Mine accounted for 40% of all nickel used in Allied artillery production during WWII? Pic credit: Canada. Dept. of Interior/@LibraryArchives /PA-043927

I love the genuine happiness emanating from this scene. Look at those kids "doing their bit" and knitting for Canadian soldiers and @redcrosscanada. Photo credit: Victor Bull/@thenfb. Photothèque/@LibraryArchives /C-053880 #Knitting #WinterInCanada #CanadianWinterCo

Made more gorgeous toques! They’re so warm and cushy that I almost wish the cold weather would stick around a few more months - almost. Then again, one can never assume winter is over in Ottawa. ☃️❄️☃️ #YOW #knitting #KnittersofTwitter #WinterinCanada #CanadianWinterCo

Ah, to be a kid again! Let's get out there and have fun, like these children in Ottawa's Rockcliffe Park in the 1920s. Photo credit: Canada. Dept. of Interior / @LibraryArchives / PA-034362 #YOW #ottcity #Ottawa #skiing #toboggan #WinterinCanada #CanadianWinterCo

There isn't much of a description for this photo at @ArchivesOntario - but, I imagine these "Two women seated in the snow by a creek with buildings in the background" would have appreciated warm woolly toques. Item Ref Code: C 130-5-0-0-126 #Winter #Ontario #CanadianWinterCo

Before there was the @RedBullCanada Crashed Ice event in @ottawacity, there was the Ottawa Winter Carnival's 'slide a mile for a dime'. Read more at bit.ly/2Due69y (not my blog). Photo credit: Canadian National Railways/ @LibraryArchives /PA #ottcity #CanadianWinterCo

I’d love to see where Ottawa would rank in a hygge study of Canadian cities: cold ✅, knitters ✅, hygge venues ✅, fireplaces ✅. Heck, we even have a small fire burning on Parliament Hill... x.com/vogueknitting/…

Did your city make the hygge list? If so, we're coming to your house and we're bringing our knitting.... fb.me/61JAN6LyK

Love, love, L💖VE this 2-tone pink pompom! It’s going to look great on this toque. 💕💕💕 #knittersoftwitter #etsy #handknit #etsycanada #CanadianWinterCo Pattern: #RusticWillowCreations

It might be cold, but winter is also beautiful. What a gorgeous shot taken in Nov 1908, on Main St in Ottawa, Ontario! It seems so peaceful. Photo credit: Photograph attributed to James Ballantyne/ @LibraryArchives /PA-133480 #WinterInCanada #YOW #Ottcity #CanadianWinterCo

It was very cold this morning, but at least I didn't have to deal with this situation. Digging out of a snow drift on Jane St, Toronto, Ontario in Dec 1917. Photo credit: John Boyd / @LibraryArchives #ThisIsGoingToTakeAWhile #WinterInCanada #CityofTO #YYZ #CanadianWinterCo
