Remember that CGI did not get worse, corporations got greedier. The reason the VFX looks so stellar is because ILM began animating for the film in early 2005. They had Two Entire Years to complete the CGI. The industry standard now is a couple months if they're feeling generous.

The technology involved with CGI is constantly improving, but the workload on animators is rising at quadruple the pace. No animator can afford to spend all their time on one project, they're all split between dozens of films in cinematic universes that have to release in a month

@CHARLIEBOT34 And alot of times they don't have a plan for what something will look like. So it could change 100 times right up till release The phrase "fix it in post" is what ruins it
@CHARLIEBOT34 It feels like for decades, films were allowed to be pieces of art made by people with vision, but now they're ground up products designed to make money.
