Compared to productivity growth of UK economy, measured by the Gross Value Added per Hour, NHS productivity shows substantial recovery from 2020/21 but remains below UK economy productivity. (5/5)
From 2004/05 to 2021/22, mean NHS annual growth in outputs, inputs & productivity are respectively 3.1%, 3.11%, & -0.02%: lower than NHS annual growth before the pandemic (2004/05- 2018/19): of 3.75%, 2.63% & 1.09% respectively (4/5)
NHS quality-adjusted output growth is just over 19% between 2020/21 and 2021/22. Considerable growth is due to a return to business as usual NHS care delivery. NHS inputs growth (3.55%) slows down in 2021/22. (3/5)
#NHSProductivity growth is about 15% between 2020/21 and 2021/22. Compared to pre-pandemic year 2019/20, we still record a productivity gap of -12.5% (dotted green line) (2/5)
