There is substantial evidence from other domains that CM increases treatment retention and abstinence rates. However, the extension of CM to gambling treatment to date has been slow. The CONGAM Study is conducting the first UK-based feasibility trial of CM in gambling treatment.

Approximately 10% of those affected by harmful gambling access treatment. Of those who enter treatment, over 1/4 drop out before completion. We are exploring whether an incentive-based approach could improve gambling treatment outcomes #GamblingHarms #GamblingResearch

Contingency management in substance misuse treatment has a substantial evidence base but has not been widely extended to gambling to date. CONGAM aims to explore treatment providers' views of CM for problem gambling to try to uncover the reasons behind these low adoption rates.
