Housing, food, and utilities continue to drive costs higher for Iowa families. In August, food prices rose 0.71% month-over-month and 3.2% year-over-year, the sharpest monthly increase among major categories. Housing costs were up 4.4% year-over-year and fuels and utilities…
Inflationary pressures aren’t letting up. Midwest inflation in August rose 0.2% from July and now stands at 2.8%. Iowa households are spending $1,266 more per month compared to 2020. The typical Midwest household has lost over $44,000 to inflation since then.
