‘PAGKAKATAON NILANG ALISIN YUNG BULOK O CORRUPT’ WATCH: Senate President Pro Tempore Tito Sotto opposed provisions that would effectively postpone the November 2026 barangay and SK elections, even as he acknowledged Congress can set a five-year term for BSK officials. Sotto argued the five-year term can be applied prospectively without postponing the upcoming elections, saying voters should be given the chance to replace erring or corrupt barangay officials. 'This is the eighth time that we have postponed barangay elections. It might give an impression to the public of how little regard we are giving to the unit of government closest to the people,' Sotto said.
