So I see folks are expectedly reacting without actually taking in what he said — he’s talking about “filler” as in episodes you KNOW they wrote simply because they needed to pad out 22 episodes, not because they were actually interesting stories

He’s not saying that you’re favorite fun interesting character development eps were filler or spinning their wheels
@CaptainPikeachu This is perfect example of how he doesn’t respect any member of his audience. He's lying to cover his inability to produce a show that can stick. Right now 6 of the ten longest running shows (episode count) are in production. Trek has 3 shows 100+ episodes. 👎🏻👎🏻 It’s true.
@CaptainPikeachu I've noticed that. You can just see the writers scratching their heads and asking themselves, "How do we fill our order of 26?"
@CaptainPikeachu 26 episodes. Splitting hairs ;) During the Next Gen era, the following seasons did NOT have 26 episodes (out of 25 total seasons between the 4 shows) TNG S2 (22) DS9 S1 (20) Voy S1 (16) Ent S3 (24) Ent S4 (22)
@CaptainPikeachu My issue with this is that there isn't really any alignment between what the writers thought were filler episodes and what the audience thinks are filler episodes There just isn't any way to predict what will turn out well. The writers and producers speak extensively about this.
@CaptainPikeachu i get why people disagree with this, some of my favourite Treks are filler episodes - but I do understand Alex's comments. TV has evolved and a lot of Trek episodes were just there to pad out the season. I think he's right
@CaptainPikeachu This is a fair comment but for the viewer it's impossible to tell if an episode was actual 'filler' or just a bad episode because old Trek has so few arc plot episodes. 🤔
