Saw this little bird in the distance, darting over the reeds at RSPB Greylake last week.... who knows what it's called? 🤔🐦
⬆️ The answer... this is a Kingfisher! 😀 A lot of you said Beeeater, and I can see why. Colours similar at this angle. I wish it had been a Beeeater! I've never seen one, and they haven't reached Somerset yet. 😊🐦
@CarlBovisNature It's not just the great photos. It's the opportunity you take to visit so many beautiful areas and show them to people who would never see them otherwise. 'X' is what you make it, and it's always nice to see your shots.
@CarlBovisNature Bee eater unless it’s a weird angle of a kingfisher
@CarlBovisNature Judging by the colouring, I would say Kingfisher. 🤔
@CarlBovisNature It looks like a bee eater but I didn't think we had them in UK - just passing through?
@CarlBovisNature I thought it was a Bee-eater at first. The colour of the underparts is wrong for them though. It's a Kingfisher.
@CarlBovisNature Not an expert but we have lots of Bee Eaters where I live and it looks like one to me rather than a Kingfisher. Did you hear it’s call? A Bee Eater is quite noisy and very distinctive. If not near water I would doubt it was a Kingfisher.
