The idea that black people are less capable of getting state issued ID is probably the most openly racist thing I have ever heard.
@CarpeDonktum @clnsbrew I’ve yet to see them bring forth people that have been denied getting IDs with proof that they were really denied.
@CarpeDonktum Makes zero sense. You need an ID to rent, buy a home, get a job, put utilities in your name, and a cellphone ect.
@CarpeDonktum I used to live in THE MOST GHETTO, dangerous place to live in downtown Chicago. One MUST provide a valid ID to live there. AND MOST OF THEM ARE BLACK.
@CarpeDonktum It's wild, tho... All these cop videos I watch of people getting pulled over for this and that, they don't have IDs... j/s
@CarpeDonktum That beats removing the Bar exam in Oregon because black people couldn't pass it. So effing racist
If you believe this, then you're a racist. It is called the bigotry of low expectations. To assert that Black individuals are incapable of acquiring or understanding the process of obtaining an ID is inherently racist. Likewise, it is a manifestation of the same prejudice when it is suggested that standards must be lowered because Black individuals are deemed incapable of meeting higher expectations.
I have recently visited several new doctors, hospitals, testing sites because I was diagnosed with cancer. EVERY one has asked for my DL and insurance cards. I make the same comment every time. "So I need an ID for chemo but I don't need one to vote?" The looks I get. Then they get a lecture about voter ID, fraud, and safe and secure elections. It's bullshit. Don't buy it. Demand your state request ID's for all elections.
