Bipartisan ticketing reform is moving forward. We thank @MarshaBlackburn, @SenatorLujan, @RepHarshbarger, and @RepTroyCarter for leading the MAIN Event Ticketing Act — and Sen. Luján for introducing the GHOST Act. Protect fans and indie stages. Release: nivassoc.org/statements/202…

In February 2021, independent venues were nearing a full year closed, with federal relief still months away. At that moment, @DollyParton and her team sent NIVA this message of support. We share it again today with profound gratitude.

This is what independent venues do best: protect cultural landmarks, serve their communities, and evolve for the future.

Independent venues & nonprofit stages support #AB1349 because it protects fans from speculative ticketing & deceptive resale practices. This bill stands up for artists, audiences, small businesses & nonprofits - not ticket scammers. We urge an AYE vote. #NIVACA #FixTheTix

The #StateOfLive – the first economic research study of the independent live sector – found that in 2024, independent stages contributed $86.2B to U.S. GDP and generated $153.1B in total economic output. That’s more than the U.S. beer, gaming, and airline industries.

We are thrilled to announce this major advocacy win! This achievement underscores the power of sustained advocacy, a result of the grassroots coalition work of the SB 1116 coalition, which includes Arts for LA, the Association of California Symphony Orchestras, Theatre Bay Area, Theatre Producers of Southern California and dedicated individuals in performing arts organizations across the state. It also highlights the direct lobbying strength of Actor’s Equity and CA Arts Advocates, the sole comprehensive lobbying organization for California’s arts, culture, and creative industries. As we approach our fiscal year-end, your support is essential. Join CAA today to help us reach our goal. In addition, the bill includes funding to the California Arts Council of $2.5m for the Historic South Los Angeles Black Cultural District. These funds shall be available for expenditure or encumbrance until June 30, 2028, and up to 1 percent of this funding may be used to support administrative costs. There is also about $300,000 for two positions to provide outreach and contract or grant management activities to further expand programs into communities and populations that continue to be underrepresented in the arts. As the budget bills progress we will keep you posted on the final outcomes.  #PAEPF #PerformingArts #SB1116 #artsadvocacy #protectlocalperformingarts

The WGA and AMPTP have reached a tentative agreement. This was made possible by the enduring solidarity of WGA members and extraordinary support of our union siblings who stood with us for over 146 days. More details coming after contract language is finalized. #WGAstrike
