This is probably where "building from scratch" and "off-the-shelf development" approaches for core tooling to a novel blockchain project is essential. On one hand it's neat that Solana's emulating a lot of Linux-style structure (FS hierarchy, using BSD packet filter). On the other hand they've repurposed software that wasn't tailored for their use case in a project that aims to supposedly last forever. Cognitive dissonance much?
