Who remembers Jack's in Skokie? #ChicagoHistory ☑️
@Chicago_History Wow, that's a blast from the past.
@Chicago_History I think on Touhy, right? I remember Jack's
@Chicago_History Went all the time as a kid. My grandmother insisted on calling it "Jakes" for one reason or another. Had a treasure chest for the kids near cashier and the fountain outside worked too.
@Chicago_History I’d meet my parents there for breakfast a lot.
@Chicago_History The question should be who doesn’t.
@Chicago_History Who could forget a Jack’s feta cheese omelette at 2 a.m. (after say, a Saturday night at the Mines)?
@Chicago_History Touhy, east of the Edens. The Las Vegas breakfast with a Sunday morning hangover was the best!
@Chicago_History I met the late, great Andy Kaufman there at 2am. The employee pictures on the wall were a staple; most had 20 year careers there. Business went down when no indoor smoking went in. Never had a bad meal there.
@Chicago_History Loved that place. Great ice cream dessert served in those small metal bowls. My grandmother had a stroke in the bathroom.
