Here, many patients are crammed into prefabricated extensions. They are convalescing in air with CO2 over 1000ppm. There's no amazing air changes there. It is very inconsistent and a big risk of hospital acquired infection, to those people trying to recover. 5/

Theatres with laminar flow can have up to 300 air changes per hour. This is typically used in orthopaedic surgery. The risk of infection is particularly high when you're putting bits of metal deep inside the body. It's expensive to correct & obviously bad for the patient. 3/

The risk of infection is high when you open up people's bodies. So the air must be as pristine as possible. I listened to a podcast with a hospital designer talking; standard surgical theatres have around 22 air changes per hour. 2/

My partner is an anaesthetist. He took a CO2 monitor into work this week; the air quality inside surgical theatres is probably the best on the planet. However, other areas of a hospital can have very poor air quality... 1/

1,246 days ago I first asked for the school's ventilation report. CA 17661 requires it to be made publicly available. I have made multiple requests and still have not received it. My own calculations show the classrooms getting 2ACH, far below CDC/CDPH recommendations.

I've worked in education for >25 yrs. I know the rules & laws. I also know that the school is violating multiple regulations/laws that make it unsafe when illness levels are high. But schools are allowed to break the rules, then punish kids & families. It's not OK.
