⛈️ A dreary day once again for much of the region with continued rain chances. Thunderstorms are also possible this afternoon, with a low chance of severe weather. Rain chances lessen tomorrow going into the weekend and early next week, with most remaining dry.
We will see some additional scattered showers around today, with a more widespread, soaking rainfall expected tonight and tomorrow. This rainfall will be very beneficial given the recent stretch of unusually dry weather.
An upper level disturbance and a cold front will bring showers and isolated to scattered thunderstorms to eastern NY and western New England today into Wednesday. Total rainfall amounts will range from a quarter to three quarters of an inch with locally higher amounts.
Autumn begins today at 219 pm EDT. Forecast the next 7 days for ern NY & wern New England will feature multiple chances for much needed beneficial rainfall. The chances increase tonight thru Tue. Another system impacts the region Thu thru Fri. Temps run slightly above normal.
Looking at the week ahead, some much-needed rain finally looks likely towards the middle of the week. Today will be another beautiful early fall day, but temperatures trend warmer through the first half of the week before cooling off again slightly Thursday and Friday.
Frost advisories have been re-issued from midnight tonight until 8 AM Sunday for the ADKs, and have also been expanded to include portions of the upper Hudson Valley and southern VT. A freeze warning will also be in effect for Hamilton County from midnight tonight to 8 AM Sunday
The latest drought monitor indicates worsening conditions across parts of the region, mainly from the Capital District north and east into southern Vermont.
After some patchy fog and low clouds this morning, it will become mostly sunny and warm this afternoon. Highs will range from lower/mid 70s in the mountains to lower 80s in lower elevations.
Today will be partly to mostly cloudy (more clouds south of Albany) with a slight chance of a few light showers across southern areas. Highs will range from the mid/upper 60s in the mountains to mid 70s in the valleys.
Our stretch of dry weather will continue through much of this week with temperatures running 5 to 10 degrees above normal. The potential for an isolated shower or two exists only for areas south and east of Albany on Wed and across the Adirondacks late Thu into early Fri.
Today will be mostly sunny with some fair-weather clouds around. Highs will range from the mid/upper 60s in the mountains to mid/upper 70s in the valleys.

Temperatures will be below normal today and tonight. Highs will range from the 60s to lower 70s and lows tonight will be in the 30s to lower 40s. A Frost Advisory has been issued for the western Adirondacks from 2 am to 8 am Tuesday.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of CT, DE, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT until 8 PM EDT
Severe thunderstorms remain possible today especially within the area outlined in a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) by the Storm Prediction Center. The primary threat remains damaging wind gusts, but an isolated tornado and large hail of 1" in diameter also cannot be ruled out.
Making plans for the weekend and in need of the forecast? Look no further! While primarily dry conditions return today, additional chances for showers and some t-storms increase tonight into Saturday. But cool and dry weather will make Sunday one of the best days of the weekend!
