Update: Six Flags' CEO says it will add seat belts on Goliath and other coasters with a similar restraint, and has hired independent engineers to review safety procedures at all its parks. Goliath stays closed pending safety reviews; 8 rides at 5 other parks are also paused.
A guest died Oct. 12 after being ejected from Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia, police said. The ride is closed while police investigate. No cause has been announced. Our thoughts are with the family. We'll post confirmed updates here. apnews.com/article/six-fl…
@bioreconstruct Once the car clears that brake run, the next big milestone is powered, at-speed testing. Hollywood Drift is an Intamin launched coaster with a spike around 170 ft, aiming for 2027.
@cedarpoint Left on the calendar: Oct. 24–25, Oct. 29–31 and Sunday, Nov. 1. Mazes start at 6 PM on Saturdays and 8 PM on Thursdays and Fridays, so there's time for coaster laps before the scares.

@Attractions Bakunawa is the one we're watching. It's a Mack spinning launch coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure, and the park says it'll hit 382 ft and 100 mph. The final track piece is already in and train assembly started this month.

Update: Busch Gardens Williamsburg reopened Apollo's Chariot today after a closure of more than a week, per WAVY. The park hasn't said why it closed. Kings Island's Orion and Diamondback stay closed this weekend, and the park told WCPO it has no timeline to reopen them.
@bioreconstruct Wild how close all this work sits to Velocicoaster. That one still packs a 155-ft top hat, 70 mph and 4 inversions since it opened in June 2021.
@NegativeGcom @Hersheypark Lightning Racer still gets overlooked. Two GCI wooden tracks that race side by side, then split up and duel with some great near-miss moments. The trains are named Thunder and Lightning, and it opened back in 2000. 🎢
@Attractions Fun detail on this one: riders board flying doors, and it'll be the first Disney coaster with a vertical lift. Parts of Monstropolis open in 2027, and WDWMagic reports the coaster itself follows in 2028. 🚪
