@patmurphybbc @MrTimeform @5liveSport The end of an era! Always informative, never afraid to "say it how it was", part of the soundtrack to many a Saturday afternoon car journey. You'll be greatly missed Pat. Wishing you a long and healthy "retirement " and looking forward to your future posts here.

2 brief veiws of the single Waxwing on Broadwater Road Holme this morning, distant but any day with a waxwing is a good day! @WaxwingsUK @BirdGuides @Natures_Voice

Sunny but very windy in suburban Derbados this morning, but not enough to deter this hardy, battle-scarred Red Admiral from finding a sheltered spot on a neighbour's front garden to feed @MatthewOates76 This shrub version of strawberry tree attracting plenty of bees too.

@devilscustard Wonderful! We occasionally get a skein flying over us here near Derby, either at main migration time or when birds are moving between the Lancashire and North Norfolk coasts during the winter. Always a joy to see and hear.

@MatthewOates76 Still here in the Alder Buckthorn this morning, having survived a lot of rain! Day 9 of it's life and it's hardly fed. Wasn't interested in some weak honey solution I offered it on Saturday.

@VilleWych @Derbyshirebirds Little stunner. Is there a more confiding scarce species than Grey Phal? I doubt it.

Another glorious early autumn day here in "Derbados" and a few butterflies still visiting the buddleias, which still have some flowers thanks to my deadheading activities. This Painted Lady was one of two here yesterday - we usually only see singletons.

@SmalePerry @RareBirdAlertUK Long extinct in UK non-migratory species turns up in Black Country. Nice to see but only question is who released them. #plasticfantastic
