I had the opportunity to talk to Chloe Pendleton, the director of PR and media for Dawgstock, about the upcoming event today. She told me about the focus on promoting current and former students that are local musicians. #Dawgstock #LocalMusic #Athens #UGA
I went and checked out The Foundry, the venue for Dawgstock. With a standing capacity of 300 and more room just outside the venue, music will be going on from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. #Dawgstock #TheFoundry #LocalMusic #UGA #UGAMBUS
My beat group has been reporting on local music in Athens this semester, and tomorrow we will be pitching a story about the rise in music festivals happening here in Athens. We have done this by gathering information about the upcoming Dawgstock at The Foundry on April 27.
Collin Sherrer, a third-year supply chain management, risk management and insurance major, is here for his second UGA Dance Marathon. He says the event is, “A great way to find an out to do something bigger than yourself, which can be hard sometimes in college.”

The Family Talent Show is underway. Multiple program directors have stated how important “keeping morale up and keeping the kids engaged” are to the success of the event as a whole.
The first morale dance of the day, the kids enjoy dancing throughout the event, where the name “Dance Marathon” comes into play.
Raven Whatley, a clinical support coordinator for the rehab department of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is here for her first UGA Dance Marathon. “It’s been going great,” she exclaimed, “I’m looking forward to raising as much money as we can and everyone having a great time.”

The first fundraising push is about to begin, for the next hour any donation of $30 or more will be matched.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and @panerabread are some of the many sponsors that help the Dance Marathon grow each year.
The Dance Marathon will be held at Stegman Coliseum today, moving back to its original location for the 30th anniversary.
