@Periphery_Anon @ardan_blade It nevertheless remains a very good book. Reminds me of Caiphas Cain series for 40K, in its prose. Easy to read, serves to convey the mood and characters. Like, I was positively shocked, how pleasant it was to read, compared to a lot of, generally speaking, modern sci-fi.

A better example is Tiger II and Pz.IV By all metrics Tiger II is more advanced than Pz.IV, yet when taken in context of battlefield, it is inferior. Equipment should be effective for task, not pursuit of advancement.

@Fublplaysit81 @Periphery_Anon Happens when it is actually well and professionally written. I am normally not that genre, but when you read it, it is just solid. Not too complex, but it knows what it is, and author writes to that goal, with good prose and just enough character depth.

@ardan_blade @Periphery_Anon Huh? "Hungry Like a Wolf" was unironically very good. I get that not everyone likes romance novels (subjective tastes and all), but objectively speaking, it was very well-written. A solid and enjoyable book.

@mage_leader @TekClaw Buddy, look up MG ammo on actual vehicles. Even 200 rounds going off wouldn't wreck a modern tank. That's just not how small arms ammo cooks off. MG ammo destroying assault mechs was one of the dumbest things in CBT, criticized likely before you were even born.

@RWApodcast One thing I'll disagree with (partially) - in some other ways, we are a lot more alike Americans and Europeans than everyone (us and them) are willing to admit. We've merged seamlessly into Modern Cosmopolitan Life (minus DEI politica), in all our daily routine and consumption.

What stops it from doing the same against China then? No, if it escalates, it will end in nuclear holocaust.

@goebaza @EpihinS того как в школе не осталось заложников. И вот что ещё известно от тех кто был в школе, так это как Альфовцы телами загораживали бегущих детей. Власти можно обвинить во многих ошибках в Беслане, но сказка про расстрел заложников из танков это оскорбительный бред. 2/2

@goebaza @EpihinS Как я сказал, такие инциденты были у многих стран. США, Иран, Украина. Это буквально, по определению, инцидент (который надо было признать). Бронетехнику в Беслан нагнали потому что у боевиков в наличии было тяжёлое вооружение (включая несколько РПГ). Её не задействовали до 1/2

@goebaza @EpihinS известно именно у какой). После чего местные вооружённые ополченцы попытались без команды прорваться вперёд в школу (кстати, да, то что их вообще пустили на место - одна из ошибок властей). Тогда уже завязалась перестрелка и начался штурм. Из танков и Шмелями огонь вели (3/4)

@goebaza @EpihinS Бля, такое чувство что подуло откуда-то от ТЖ 2010-ых. Сбил боинг специально, да, а не потому что инцидент с ПВО. Спас бы моряков, запустив военных США на ядерную подлодку (если это вообще помогло бы). Про "огнеметы и танки" достаточно посмотреть про таймлайн событий в Беслане.

@goebaza @EpihinS Потому что Путин свято верит в протокол и бюрократию. Если официально приезжает глава государства, то с ним надо обращаться как положено. По этой же причине у нас проходят выборы. Потому что "правильно", так положено.
