CO’s on patrol in the #ChilliwackRiverValley came upon a wildfire that began only minutes earlier when a tree came down on power lines. The #BCCOS requested @CRVFD and @ChilliwackRCMP respond. @BCGovFireInfo also attended.

In July 2022, Tudor Gold reported to the #BCCOS that workers had shot & killed a grizzly bear on site. The investigation found the grizzly bear had repeatedly returned to the area as a result of the unlawful burning of food waste & garbage, as well as other unsecure attractants.
Working with the @_BCCOS, Tudor Gold Corp. was issued a $12,500 administrative penalty for burning waste and prohibited material at their remote exploration camp near #Bell2. Burning garbage and food waste attracted bears to the site. ow.ly/GNll50DrnJt
CO’s also determined that a new incinerator on site had never been used. A Dangerous Wildlife Protection Order and violation ticket related to attracting dangerous wildlife were also issued to the company.
The killing of the grizzly bear, which could have been prevented, was an aggravating factor in the penalty determination. #BCCOS
